Michele Bachmann‘s grasp on reality is getting weaker by the day. The Minnesota Congresswoman, who will retire at the end of her term in January, 2015, has an interesting perspective on how the GOP-created government shutdown ended.

Frank Bruni takes on Michele Bachmann's so-called 'Christian' faith in a searing piece in the NYT:

I’d like to meet that god, and I’d like to understand that Christianity.

After questioning her attacks on Huma Abedin, an aide to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, by suggesting she was part of the Muslim Brotherhood infiltrating America, and her previous attacks on vaccines, Bruni launches into Bachmann's attacks on Obama and gays:

Does it encourage gratuitously divisive condemnations of Barack Obama as “anti-American,” one of many incendiary phrases in her attacks against him in 2008? And does it compel a war against homosexuality waged with the language and illogic she uses?

She has said that gay men and lesbians are dysfunctional products of abuse and agents of “sexual anarchy,” and when the singer and songwriter Melissa Etheridge was battling breast cancer years ago, Bachmann helpfully chimed in: “This may be an opportunity for her now to be open to some spiritual things, now that she is suffering with that physical disease. She is a lesbian.”

Bachmann’s concept of Christian love brims with hate, and she has a deep satchel of stones to throw. From what kind of messiah did she learn that?

‘Activist’ Supreme Court’s Decision ‘Far-Reaching,’ Obamacare ‘Unconstitutional’

 In response to the Supreme Court’s 5-4 decision that finds the Affordable Care Act constitutional, Tea Party and GOP Rep. Michele Bachmann spoke on CNN and insisted Obamacare is still unconstitutional, despite the high court’s ruling. Bachmann also labeled the John Roberts’ Court an “activist” court, and claimed the health care ruling is “an even more far-reaching decision that anyone had expected or imagined.”

Bachmann heatedly disagreed with the high court’s 5-4 decision on the mandate, ruling that Congress has the authority to enforce the healthcare law’s individual mandate, which will require most U.S. taxpayers to buy insurance or pay a penalty. The Tea Party leader predicted that not only will the nation be swept into an economic “black hole” because of the law, but also argued the Affordable Care Act was still unconstitutional in her eyes.

“This is clearly unconstitutional,” she said. “There is no basis in the Constitution for the government to have this level of history-making expansion of power. Because what this means, for the first time in the history of the country, Congress can force Americans to purchase any product, any service that Congress wants them to, which determines the price and we are forced to, which is a denial of liberty.

Obama A “Health Care Dictator” Who May Mandate 1 Child Families

Michele Bachmann said that President Obama under “Obamacare” could mandate the number of children a family is allowed to have, or that the government would pay for. Bachmann suggested President Obama is a “health care dictator” and said he now has the power to demand insurance companies offer “sterilizations” in addition to contraceptive care under the Affordable Care Act.

Michele Bachmann Rips Howard Stern for 'Dragging Her Through The Mud' in Gay Rights Tirade

Michele Bachmann attacked radio host Howard Stern for "demonizing" her in a widely-distributed clip of his show which took Bachmann and Rick Santorum and other anti-gay Republicans to task for their homophobic positions which perpetuate intolerance and violence toward gay people.

Wrote Bachmann in an email to supporters:

Earlier this week, notorious shock jock Howard Stern called me "the worst person in the world" during his daily radio show.

To conservatives, this message from Howard Stern, a man whose only contribution to our culture was years of corrupting America's youth on public airwaves, was clear: "either abandon your beliefs and agree with me, or be dragged through the mud and demonized on national radio." I don't accept this false choice, and I know you don't either.

While Stern can say anything he wants on satellite radio, his words have an impact on his millions of listeners as well as the people his listeners talk to, which is why I need your help to counteract with our positive message. We must fight back and maintain our focus on what is important.

These are serious times, and our nation faces serious issues. The direction that America is headed requires serious discussion by serious people, and Howard Stern is not a serious person. We cannot allow attacks from him or anybody else to distract us from a laser focus on what is truly important: holding President Obama and his Democratic allies accountable for their mortgaging of our future. I know you share my determination and, with your help, our message of prosperity for our nation's future will drown out the noise of their attacks.

Stern is ready to fire back at Bachmann

"Just read Michelle bachman's comments. Can't wait to get back on the air. Spoke with the lord a few minutes ago and he is on my side. If thinking that gay people have a right to happiness is corrupting America then I will continue corrupting them. Time to shun this woman."

'I Was The Perfect Candidate'

Former GOP presidential candidate and Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) weighed in on the state of the Republican primary race in a recent interview, declaring that she "was the perfect candidate," even after her departure from the race.

Asked by Bloomberg TV's Al Hunt who of the remaining four candidates was the "most conservative," Bachmann responded by including herself in the mix.

"I was. I was the perfect candidate," Bachmann said in the interview, which aired on Friday. "America had their chance with the perfect candidate. But any of our candidates are going to be acceptable to the American people, and more than acceptable, because right now, if you look at the Gallup map that came out this week, President Obama is in big trouble all across the country."

Comedian and TV actress Sarah Silverman is set to thump Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry with a provocatively titled live comedy show in his home state.

Silverman is marshaling fellow comics for a fund-raiser in Texas titled, “Live From N*****head: Stripping The Paint Off Of Good Ol’ Fashioned Racism.”

The title refers to the controversy over Perry’s West Texas hunting campground where the candidate has entertained friends and supporters. The campground’s former name, “Niggerhead,” was painted on a rock at the entrance for many years.

Michele Bachmann Brags About Antigay Record

Before her campaign started sinking in the polls, Michele Bachmann had habitually downplayed her opposition to all things gay as irrelevant. But in a new ad, brought to you by new campaign leadership, she wears it as a badge of honor.

"I'm running to be president of the United States," she reminds voters at the start, which is coincidentally a line she had once regularly employed to dodge questions about her belief in so-called reparative therapy to "cure" homosexuality and her opposition to same-sex marriage.

"Conservatives are being told once again that we should settle for anyone but Barack Obama," she argues. "Well, friends, this is the one year where we can't settle. I have fought for life from the statehouse to the United States Congress. I've led the charge as a champion for traditional marriage. And as president, I want you to know I'll fight for life and for marriage."

The ad is posted on YouTube under the headline "Don't Settle on Life and Marriage." It's a stark change from her "meet the candidate" interview on Meet the Press in August.

Michele Bachmann Responds To Gay Bullying Petition: 'Bullying Is Wrong'

Rep. Michele Bachmann responded Monday to a petition that urged her to publicly address gay bullying.

"Bullying is wrong," she says, according to the blog Dump Bachmann.

Two weeks ago, Tammy Aaberg, whose son Justin committed suicide last July, met with members of Bachmann's staff to request that the congresswoman denounce the anti-gay bullying that Aaberg said led to her then-15-year-old son's death. She presented a box carrying 141,000 petitioning signatures, The Advocate reported.

A few days later, a Costa Mesa, Calif. rally attendee asked Bachmann about how she will address school bullying in her district.

"That's not a federal issue," she said, according to CBS News.

Bachmann's official response to the petition Monday notes that she is "very aware and concerned about the cases of bullying and suicides that have occurred" in Anoka-Hennepin Schools -- Minnesota's largest school district that falls in Bachmann's Congressional district. The blog Dump Bachmann published the full statement.

"In response, my office has been in communication with both school officials and with individuals who have lost a loved one to suicide," the statement reads. Bachmann also notes that she is just one of the members of Congress who represent the Anoka-Hennepin school district.
