After Seeing Sicko...

After seeing the movie "Sicko," I felt I had to at least let my elected officials know that I supported a move toward universal health care. The United States can take steps in providing health care for all Americans.
Three letters to Senator Dianne Feinstein, Senator Barbara Boxer, and Representative Adam Schiff:

1. Pass SB 840 Single Payer Health Care

I would like to know what your position is and how you will vote on Senate Bill 840, which was vetoed by Governor Schwarzenegger last year. SB 840 will provide comprehensive, high quality health insurance for all Californians. The bill provides for:
1. One health insurance plan (single payer) that covers every California resident
2. High quality care and comprehensive benefits, and choice of your own personal doctor
3. Affordable for individuals, families and businesses
Nearly seven million Californian lack health insurance during all or part of the year. About 70% of these people are employed but do not receive employer-based insurance. Most insured Californians are "under-insured." Under insurance means that you have health insurance but procedures or benefits are not covered or are only partially covered. Now is the time for a comprehensive system to improve care quality and make our health care system finally work for us.

There is no reason, besides the vast amount of money the health insurance industry and pharmaceutical companies are making (while our hospitals are been shut down) and the payoffs to politicians, why California should not be moving to have universal health care for all.

2. Support H.R. 676

I would like to know what your position is and how you will vote on H.R. 676.

Under H.R. 676, Medicare would be extended and improved so that all individuals residing in the United States would receive high quality and affordable health care services. They would receive all medically necessary services by the physicians of their choice, with no restrictions on what providers they could visit. If implemented, the United States National Health Insurance Act would cover primary care, dental, mental health, prescription drugs, and long term care.

There is no reason, besides the vast amount of money the health insurance industry and pharmaceutical companies are making (while our hospitals are been shut down) and the payoffs to politicians, why the United States should not be moving to have universal health care for all. We are the only major industrialized nation to not have universal health care.

3. Campaign Support and Contributions

As your constituent, I am requesting detailed information on the contributions to your campaign and donations you received while in office from all health insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies for the past 10 years.
