How to Hide an Airplane Factory

A little bit of LA history: The site of the current Burbank Airport, runway 33 and railroad tracks still exist, but most of the facilities have been removed and replaced with hotels and other commercial venues.

This was an amazing feat back in the 1940’s and very creative.

During World War II, the Army Corps of Engineers needed to hide the Lockheed Burbank Aircraft Plant to protect it from a Japanese air attack. They covered it with camouflage netting to make it look like a rural subdivision from the air.
