A bill that would grant spousal health benefits to domestic partners of federal employees cleared a House subcommittee today by a five to three vote. In June, President Obama granted some benefits to same-sex partners of federal workers but said he could not grant full benefits without legislation.The Domestic Partnership Benefits and Obligations Act would, in addition to health benefits, extend retirement and disability plans and life insurance to same-sex partners.
