Hawaii Falls Short on Votes

"The vote on the legislative maneuver fell three short of the nine required for a full Senate vote. About 18 of the 25 senators had indicated they support civil unions, but they lacked the political willpower to go against Senate President Colleen Hanabusa and most of her leadership team, which opposed the effort.

Hanabusa has supported civil unions but said she didn't want to override the normal lawmaking process by lifting the bill from its committee, where it had stalled on a tie vote.

Senate Judiciary Chairman Brian Taniguchi said there was still hope that the bill could be amended and revived, but that probably wouldn't happen until next year.

Dennis Arakaki, executive director of the Hawaii Family Forum, applauded the result.
"It affirms the will of the people," he said. "Senators realized the impact of this issue. They may have been looking for rationale of how they could either avoid the issue or put it to bed."

To whom it may concern:

As a Gay man, I strongly oppose recognition of gay marriage and civil unions.

Gays and Lesbians have no right whatsoever to expect anyone to grant them the rights to marriage.

Marriage is defined as between a man and a women, not same sex people.

You are all hypocrites, several years ago, no one ever considered gay marriage or civil unions until it got media attention, all of a sudden everyone is jumping on the band wagon with this sham for gay marriage and civil unions.

Marriage equality and the other gay organizations should first focus on putting a stop to discrimination against gays and lesbians in the work place, restaurants, health care, walking down the street being abused verbally and physically, housing etc, before all of you hypocrites continue to push this senseless, waste of time gay marriage initiative.

As a gay man, I am greatly disappointed for the lack of concern all of you have when one of our so call brothers and sisters are being beating up on or killed and none of you ever come out and protest any of those problems, I like to know why?

The answer to that is, all of you are gutless cowards, who are greedy and don't have a brain in you head to realize that the politicians don't give a crap about us and never have, their only concern is how much money can be made and the voting block of potential voters that might or might not vote for them in any election, that's all but all of you are to stupid to see that.

Wake up and smell the coffee, stand up and help protect our people from being abused before all of you jump on this sham of a gay marriage crap.

You can quote me on everything I have stated because this is my opinion and belief.

Thank You.

Sincerely,
