Santorum Blasts 9th Circuit for Prop 8 Ruling

At a campaign stop in McKinney, Texas today, Rick Santorum condemned the 9th Circuit's ruling on Prop 8, claiming that the judges attacked the rational beliefs of religious people, Think Progress LGBT reports.

Said Santorum:

"The 9th Circuit decision yesterday said that marriage - if you believe in traditional marriage - the only reason that you can possibly believe that is because you are a bigot...Your belief of marriage between a man and a woman is purely irrational based on hatred and bigotry. That's what they just wrote. Four thousand years of human history. Irrational hatred and bigotry toward a group of people is the only reason you can be for marriage between a man and a woman."

Ugh... what part of civil marriage do religious extremists (and heterosexual supremacists) like Santorum not understand?

He can believe all he wants in a grey-bearded, blue-eyes sky king with omniscient, omnipotent powers that thinks marriage is between a man and a woman but he has NO RIGHT to force that belief on people who do not share his belief. Regardless of how deeply or heart-felt his belief is!

We're talking about CIVIL marriage licenses given out by the Government, akin to a driving license. If you want to have a wedding then by all means go ahead.

Arggggggggggh! Makes me wanna holler
