A Catholic church in Australia is denying rumors that they are following direct orders from the Vatican to test seminary students for homosexuality.
Melbourne's Herald Sun reported on March 27 that the city's archdiocese was subjecting incoming priests to a test to find those who "appear" gay so that they could be barred from the priesthood.
The Melbourne seminary's rector told MCV magazine that they do not conduct such tests. A spokesperson for the archdiocese said that while the church does conduct psychological testing for incoming priests, they do not test for homosexuality.
